what i'm loving wednesday

OMG yum. Although I bought fresh shrimp and had to peel and devein them... I don't know if I'll ever get the smell out of my nose. And the sauce that you put on them?!? I've been using it as salad dressing. So good.

Carnival squash that I found at the farmers market. So pretty!

this multi-surface cleaner from the honest company. (although don't get it from amazon, holy crap i just saw the price! i got mine on sale last week at target!). this is my first honest company purchase and i LOVE it. powerful mist spray, great smell, and cleans well. i keep cleaning all the counters and tables because i love it so! (i'm not OCD at all...lol)

can't.stop.watching. we started a netflix binge (well, as much of a netflix binge that two new parents with full time jobs can manage) and it is soooo good!

so what are you loving right now??

back to the daily grind and a little tv randomness

ugh i had to go back to work today. it was fun until about 3pm, then i hit a wall and i just wanted to take a nap :)

lyla is doing really well, she and riley are getting along great. i'm planning on making her a new bed this weekend, she keeps stealing riley's.  and this is what he thinks about that:

did y'all watch breaking bad last night? i swear, i basically had 2 heart attacks and peed my pants in the first 30 minutes. it is ripping my heart out.

if you don't watch breaking bad (i'm sorry but you really need to get with it!) do you watch sons of anarchy? it's one of the shows that got me through marathon training last year and the new season premiered last week. the whole episode made me sick. i wanted to punch jax (the main character) in his manly parts. what a jerk.

what's your must watch tv show? there are only 2 episodes of breaking bad left and i'm pretty sure i'm going to cry... and on another note, i watch WAY too much TV.

six random things...

  • i ran my first 20 miler on saturday [2 mile warm up, hot chocolate 10k, ran back to my car, then did the rest on the treadmill] and it went surprisingly well. i thought for sure i'd hit the wall because i ran the 10k faster than i should have, but i didn't. now i'm wondering if it's because i didn't run it all together? there was about a 30-45 minute break in between me running outside and running inside.
  • today was my first run since saturday and i had no idea how dead my legs were! they aren't sore but they have no energy!
  • since i've run out of netflix episodes of gossip girl i've had to find another form of entertainment for the treadmill... and now i'm addicted to sons of anarchy. with gossip girl at least i just watched while i was on the treadmill, now i'm watching SOA episodes every chance i get. MUST STOP.
  • brad and i have also started trying to catch up on homeland. so every night we watch one or two episodes before we go to bed. it's an exciting life we lead.
  • the weather here today is amazing. i actually washed my car and 'cleaned up' after riley just to have something to do outside.
  • then i did some crafting for february:

do you like to make stuff?

is there a tv show you're addicted to?

Does 21 Days a Habit Make?

So from what I can tell, the consensus seems to be that it only takes 21 days to make a habit. And I know for a fact that I can do almost anything for a month (back in pharmacy school I did a trauma surgery rotation = I got up at 4am every day, including Saturdays). Where is this going?

Monday I started a 21 day challenge:  To workout first thing in the morning.

Why do I want to do this?
  • To get my metabolism going first thing.
  • To feel those endorphins all day long
  • To get the workout out of the way so it's not looming over me all day
  • To hopefully help me eat better (I've already put the work in, don't cancel it out by eating crap!)
How I'm planning ahead to make this happen:
  • Get at least 7 hours of sleep each night = help me get up in the AM
  • If I have to work, pack my gym bag, work clothes, and lunch the night before
  • If I don't have to work, pick an early class so that I get up and get going
Do you have any tips? My biggest obstacle will be the days I have to work (Gym is on the way to work so it makes no sense to come back home in between). I have to shower after I work out so that means packing shower stuff, clothes, hairdryer, etc.

Have you ever tried to make something a habit? How did it go?

Today's workout:  40 minutes of elliptical while watching How to Make it in America.
Love this guy. But let me just tell you, it is SUPER AWKWARD when there are sex scenes (it's an HBO show). I feel like everyone in the gym is thinking I'm watching porn while working out. AWKWARD.
