Thanksgiving Weekend 2014, Everly's Dedication

Hmm, haven't posted on the blog for over 2 months... Why not throw one up today?

I don't like to post when I have nothing to talk about and obviously I need time to post. Today the stars have aligned. I have a topic and I have time (for the moment).

So, where to start? Everly's been sick all weekend. Her first little cold virus and it broke my heart. She was all stuffed up and so pitiful. Luckily my parents were here and they were a huge help as always. There were plenty of cuddles to go around.

Our friends from KY visited and mom and dad encouraged us to go hang out with them for awhile Saturday night. It was really great to see them and relax for a little bit.

We went to Nightbell, which is a newer speakeasy type restaurant/lounge. It's Katie Button's second place in Asheville (her first restaurant is Curate and if you're in Asheville you should make reservations and go because it's the best place in town in my opinion!). We really enjoyed the drinks and the small plates we tried. The margarita was delicious and the lobster roll was SO GOOD.

Sunday morning we got up for breakfast before church. Everly was being dedicated at church so I had bought her a beautiful cream colored dress for the event. I'm sure you can guess what happened. Holy poop storm. #firsttimemom

Should've took her to breakfast in her PJs and changed her at the church. Oh well. Luckily I had packed a second dress.

The dedication went great and she LOVED being up on stage. She's such a ham. I was just really grateful for the prayer from our church family.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Have you started decorating for Christmas yet?

five things friday

what better way to ease back into blogging than an easy list? :) i've missed posting, but let me just tell you, falling asleep between 830-930 every night is not conducive to blogging!

first….
this has been a crazy week at our house. on saturday i was on my way home from work when brad called and asked if our vet's office was open (side note… isn't this such a guy thing? call me to see if the office is open rather than just calling the office. ahh, i digress). immediately i'm ask what was wrong. long story short, lyla had ripped off an accessory pad on her front paw while playing with riley in the back yard and was bleeding like crazy.

we took her to our local emergency vet and they stitched her up, good as new. she got a cute little leg bandage that brad claimed make her look like a filly ready for the races (can you tell we're from KY?).

unfortunately, for her and her mischievous ways, she also came home the owner of a brand new cone of shame. it's been a big old pain in the you know what, but oh how we've laughed at her. (keep all your comments about what horrible parents we're going to be to yourselves ;) )

i mean, come on. that's funny.

second…
we're doing a challenge at pure barre asheville: 20 classes in 30 days. just what i needed to give me some extra motivation to get my butt to the barre. my inner teacher's pet loves getting to put a star by my name before every class. yes, i'm weird.

i've completed 5 so far (it was my on week at work), and am hoping to complete 7 in the next 7 days, wish me luck!

third…
i celebrated my 31st birthday on monday! brad totally spoiled me and even sent me these beautiful flowers:

my awesome brother sent me some super comfortable socks and a gift card to sonic (he knows of my major addiction to diet cherry limeades). i know i brag on him all the time, but truly, he's the best. i'm so proud to call him my brother  :) i'd love the show you the picture, but my computer is being STUPID and won't let me upload it.

my friend shannon also sent me these awesome forever stamps:

LOVE them.

fourth...
i'm still in love with pure barre. it rocks my sticky socks. and speaking of sticky socks, check out the ones that brad put in my stocking:

fifth and final...

aren't they the cutest??

allied medal displays::: review and discount code

brad got me an awesome running gift for Christmas this year, a customized allied medal display:

i have wanted one of these for a really long time, so when Christmas started creeping up on us, i may or may not have left brad some hints :) he immediately regretted the purchase when i made him help me hang in on Christmas morning [in my defense i did make him breakfast first!].

i chose a personalized hanger with two rows of hooks. i almost got three but then my OCD kicked in. i knew it would drive me crazy if i couldn't get them to hang neatly so that i could see every one. i chose to get 'hustle harder' on it [long story].

installation was surprisingly simple and we got it into place in about ten minutes [i subtracted the 30 minutes it took us to find a screwdriver]. mine came with three screws, three anchors, and three spacers. we decided not to use the anchors [i was nervous about not using them but brad convinced me to try it and it hasn't fallen down yet, score one for him] to avoid the larger holes in the wall.

after we got it up i wiped it down with a stainless steel cleaning cloth that i use to clean my refrigerator because it was covered in fingerprints. then i loaded it up with my bling:

i was really happy with how it turned out, i only wish i'd paid attention to the sizing specifications... it turned out way smaller than i thought.

be sure to check out the allied medal website if you're looking for a nice way to display your medals.... they do some really beautiful landscape ones too. i'd love to get one with the Asheville skyline/mountains on it.

joel, at allied medals was kind enough to offer a discount code to you guys, just in case you're eyeing a hanger! this code will get you 10% off a medal hanger of your choice:

3XACHARM10

the code is good through march 31st, so feel free to use it or share it.
