five things friday

what better way to ease back into blogging than an easy list? :) i've missed posting, but let me just tell you, falling asleep between 830-930 every night is not conducive to blogging!

first….
this has been a crazy week at our house. on saturday i was on my way home from work when brad called and asked if our vet's office was open (side note… isn't this such a guy thing? call me to see if the office is open rather than just calling the office. ahh, i digress). immediately i'm ask what was wrong. long story short, lyla had ripped off an accessory pad on her front paw while playing with riley in the back yard and was bleeding like crazy.

we took her to our local emergency vet and they stitched her up, good as new. she got a cute little leg bandage that brad claimed make her look like a filly ready for the races (can you tell we're from KY?).

unfortunately, for her and her mischievous ways, she also came home the owner of a brand new cone of shame. it's been a big old pain in the you know what, but oh how we've laughed at her. (keep all your comments about what horrible parents we're going to be to yourselves ;) )

i mean, come on. that's funny.

second…
we're doing a challenge at pure barre asheville: 20 classes in 30 days. just what i needed to give me some extra motivation to get my butt to the barre. my inner teacher's pet loves getting to put a star by my name before every class. yes, i'm weird.

i've completed 5 so far (it was my on week at work), and am hoping to complete 7 in the next 7 days, wish me luck!

third…
i celebrated my 31st birthday on monday! brad totally spoiled me and even sent me these beautiful flowers:

my awesome brother sent me some super comfortable socks and a gift card to sonic (he knows of my major addiction to diet cherry limeades). i know i brag on him all the time, but truly, he's the best. i'm so proud to call him my brother  :) i'd love the show you the picture, but my computer is being STUPID and won't let me upload it.

my friend shannon also sent me these awesome forever stamps:

LOVE them.

fourth...
i'm still in love with pure barre. it rocks my sticky socks. and speaking of sticky socks, check out the ones that brad put in my stocking:

fifth and final...

aren't they the cutest??

in other news, weight watchers is going great! i've lost another 5.2 pounds (for a total of 13.2). i am so grateful for how well the program has been going and i love how i don't feel restricted. i feel like the program helps me to make better decisions when it comes to food and i'm also loving all the new recipes i've found!

riley got to be our only child again last weekend. we had to go to charlotte (more on that later) and we left lyla with a friend who has a puppy around her age. i think he enjoyed all the attention! (ps - if you travel with your pets, you've gotta stay at aloft. they don't charge you anything extra and they loan you a dog bed and bowls, and they give your pup treats and a toy! seriously, they're awesome!)

and i can't have a picture of one without the other. here's picture of lyla sleeping after she'd terrorized us  all day. i say it lovingly, but man, she can be a big pain in the butt sometimes! puppies are cute, but i'm kind of looking forward to when she's six months to a year old!!

summary sunday

the week of september 23-29

monday:  pure barre
tuesday:  pure barre, 3 mile run
wednesday: pure barre
thursday:  rest day
friday:  pure barre
saturday:  ran 3 miles
sunday:  pure barre

hmm, i distinctly remember saying i'd run 10 miles this week. obviously, that didn't happen. i had planned on running 3 on thursday and 4 on saturday, but i decided my body wanted a rest day (and brad wanted to go out to eat when i got home from work).

so i'll shoot for 10 again this next week.

and just because this post is super boring, here are some cute pup pics!

back to the daily grind and a little tv randomness

ugh i had to go back to work today. it was fun until about 3pm, then i hit a wall and i just wanted to take a nap :)

lyla is doing really well, she and riley are getting along great. i'm planning on making her a new bed this weekend, she keeps stealing riley's.  and this is what he thinks about that:

did y'all watch breaking bad last night? i swear, i basically had 2 heart attacks and peed my pants in the first 30 minutes. it is ripping my heart out.

if you don't watch breaking bad (i'm sorry but you really need to get with it!) do you watch sons of anarchy? it's one of the shows that got me through marathon training last year and the new season premiered last week. the whole episode made me sick. i wanted to punch jax (the main character) in his manly parts. what a jerk.

what's your must watch tv show? there are only 2 episodes of breaking bad left and i'm pretty sure i'm going to cry... and on another note, i watch WAY too much TV.

well it was supposed to be a relaxing week of vacation...

brad and i decided to take a staycation this fall instead of traveling anywhere. we planned on sleeping in, hiking, mountain biking, and maybe staying in downtown asheville for a few nights... but then we got this little booger:

so those plans changed quickly. we did finally pick a name... LYLA. although miss pisser might have been more accurate. seriously, her bladder must be the size of a teaspoon because she pees every 15 minutes.

this morning and yesterday morning i got up and went to pure barre, which just opened in asheville.

i have always heard such good things about these classes but i've never had the opportunity to try them. loved their store front and studio and they were all so nice and welcoming! so far i've really enjoyed myself. i've never done anything with dance at all (except watch center stage fifty 'leven times), so even though the movements are totally new to me, i can still do them.

i signed up for their 5 week introductory package so i'll post more throughout and do a summary post at the end (this coming from the girl who still needs to recap the flying pig 3way and the downhill at dawn marathon, eh).

did you ever take dance classes?
